Meet some of VeraCore’s key players
Denise S. Lunden, Co-Founder & President
Denise has spent her entire career working in various vertical sales and marketing capacities. After graduating from Skidmore College, her career began at the Burroughs Corporation by being named one of the firm’s first female salespeople. She went on to hold several key positions at the Service Bureau Corporation (a division of Control Data), developing in-depth expertise in the banking industry, which was a key market for the firm.
These key insights and knowledge acquired there led to Denise assuming a corporate position at a division of Dunn and Bradstreet. Charted with product development responsibilities, she led a team of product development & marketing professionals focused on a new Asset Liability product for the banking industry. The learned experiences and laser focus on specific verticals in the early stages of her career served deepen business perspectives and understanding of marketing and sales of industry specific applications and VeraCore. All of which uniquely prepared her extraordinarily well for founding her own firm - Software Marketing Associates in 1981, a business that she's still intimately involved with and loves.
When not in the office, Denise enjoys gourmet cooking, cycling, Pilates, having fun with her beloved boxer dog, Georgie and traveling to Boston to visit her adult children if they will have her. By the way when you visit VeraCore you will most likely have the opportunity to meet Georgie.
Jim Lunden, Co-Founder & Chief Financial Officer
Jim founded Software Marketing Associates, Inc. (now VeraCore Software Solutions, Inc.) in 1981. The first Pro-Mail turnkey system (now the “VeraCore Fulfillment Solution”) was installed in 1982. After 5 years, there were over 50 installations. Jim takes pride in knowing that hundreds of licensees are now supporting over 10,000 client sites with hundreds of thousands of customers.
Jim graduated from Cornell with a degree in Engineering. Little did he know that his studies of Inventory Control would become the foundation of the VeraCore system. After serving the US Army as an Armored Cavalry officer, Jim spent nearly five years at the Chase Manhattan Bank in a variety of technical positions. He then spent five years at a California based software company rising to the position of Chief Operating Officer.
When not thinking about VeraCore, Jim enjoys his audio-visual toys.
Garrett Lunden, Vice President
Garrett rejoined VeraCore Software Solutions, Inc. in 2014 after spending 8 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). While at PwC Garrett spent six years in Boston and two years in Paris, France performing consulting and audit engagements for Financial Services companies. Garrett brings in-depth business process and IT knowledge to VeraCore after working with many Fortune 500 companies in the US and Europe.
Garrett leads our Client Services department and brings a fresh perspective to help take VeraCore’s client service to the next level leveraging his broad experience.
Garrett is a Certified Information Systems Auditor and is a member of ISACA. Garrett received his undergraduate degree in Managerial Economics from Union College.
Outside of work you can find Garrett spending time with his wife, Yoko and his boxer dog Bentley (both are also part of the VeraCore team!). Garrett enjoys cycling, skiing, and ice hockey in his spare time.
Ted Bogucki, Vice President
Ted started with VeraCore over 25 years ago as a programmer, after graduating from Central Connecticut State University. Ted was instrumental in the development of many of the company’s early software products, which at that time, were written for the PICK operating system. In those days Ted also spent a good amount of his time traveling throughout the country, installing systems and providing training on-site at clients’ facilities. As technology changed over the years, Ted helped to guide the firm through the changes, first from PICK to Unix and later to Windows-based computers. Ted currently maintains VeraCore’s server environment and network infrastructure for VeraCore’s headquarters as well as our co-location facility where we currently host over 80 customers (and thousands of databases). On his work at VeraCore, “I really enjoy the challenge of identifying up and coming technologies and finding how we at VeraCore can best utilize them to service our customers.”
When he’s not geeking out on the latest technologies, you’ll find Ted enjoying the outdoors hiking, fishing and target shooting.
Jodi Dixon, Vice President
Jodi is a life-long VeraCore employee starting as an Entry-Level Programmer fresh out of kindergarten. She moved through the ranks as Programmer, Senior Programmer and Director of Software Development before settling in as Vice President. As a graduate of the University of Connecticut, Jodi had no idea where a math major would take her in life. She quickly learned that Numerical Analysis and Advanced Logic taught her critical skills for creating efficient software products.
“I am amazed at the technological advances in our company and the world during my VeraCore career. With all these changes, it seems that my job should have changed dramatically from the early years where we typed code on CRTs and delivered software via floppy disk, but this couldn’t be farther from the truth. 27 years later, my job is still to design and deliver robust software solutions using current technology to solve licensee business problems”
As recent empty-nesters, Jodi and her husband thought that they would miss the never-ending activity that came with 4 children, but they are enjoying their new-found freedom.
Eric J. Howard, Vice President
Eric came to VeraCore after graduating from Ithaca College with a degree in Business Management. Having been with the company for over 20 years, Eric has enjoyed many positions within the company including system implementation, customer support, training, sales & marketing and product management. When asked he is amazed how fast the time has gone and how much has changed since early on in his career when he traveled the country installing turnkey computer systems.
Eric values the long-term customer relationship built over the years. Additionally, he enjoys the challenge of creating solutions for their ever changing needs to help them to remain competitive in an ever changing industry.
Prior to working with VeraCore Eric interned with Merrill Lynch assisting with financial analysis while studying abroad. He has also spent time building houses and worked as a sailing instructor. His favorite pasttimes are spending time with family and keeping active which includes biking (with and without kids) and sharing his son’s passion for playing ice hockey.
Brian Parrillo, Director of Sales
After graduating from CCSU with a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Brian went on to work in software support for the CT State Golf Association before joining the VeraCore team in 2002.
Brian has held various positions at VeraCore, including Support Manager, Onsite Consultant, and Account Executive. Now, as the Director of Sales, Brian applies his problem solving skills and deep knowledge of the fulfillment industry to help companies across the country improve their businesses.
“I enjoy learning about different types of operations and helping companies apply our capabilities to allow them to become more profitable. We don’t just provide software at VeraCore; we provide solutions that make a real impact on our customers’ businesses.”
In his free time, Brian enjoys golfing, music, movies, and spending time with friends & family. Brian welcomed his first child, Sophia, on Christmas Eve 2012.
Chris Jacobson, Director of Professional Services
Chris graduated from Western Connecticut State University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems. He began working at VeraCore immediately upon graduation as a member of the support department. Chris continued his career at VeraCore by advancing into several different positions including Support Manager, Hosting Solutions Manager, and into his now current role as Director of Professional Services.
“Each day at VeraCore comes with its own set of new challenges and customer needs that have to be met. Serving over 250 clients nationwide is no small task, so I’m extremely privileged to have such a well-rounded and knowledgeable support staff. The commitment and dedication to our customers is always constant; however the approach of supporting an ever evolving software solution is anything but.”
On the weekend you can more than likely find him on the golf course, or spending time with his wife and friends. Chris is also a diehard New York Jets fan, which as of lately is not for the faint of heart.
Sean O'Connor, Vice President - Client Services
After graduating from the University of Connecticut in 1992, Sean took a job in customer service at Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI), while pursuing his MBA at night. His experience at TCI helped him to secure a position in customer support at VeraCore (then Software Marketing Associates, Inc.) in 1997 and he has been with the company ever since. In his time at VeraCore, Sean has worked in many capacities: providing front-line customer support, training, managing the support department, sales & marketing and most recently, overseeing client services.
Sean, on his time with VeraCore “It’s hard to believe that I’ve been here over 18 years; it really feels like I just started yesterday. I’ve never been bored or uninterested at any time and I think we all feel that way – like we’re part of something special.”
Outside the office, Sean enjoys spending time with his wife Melissa and playing chauffeur to their two kids, Erin and Ryan.
Matt Suski, Data Center Product Manager
After graduating from Assumption College in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Matt came to VeraCore Software Solutions, Inc. as a Product Support Specialist, where he dealt directly with many of VeraCore’s users on troubleshooting and case-by-case customization. In 2008 he was promoted to Manager of Custom Programming, which brought on new responsibilities as being the liaison between the VeraCore community and its programmers. Today, Matt helps manage the infrastructure at our Data Center and works with our hosted customers on a day to day basis.
“Since starting at VeraCore, I have seen tremendous growth not only in myself but also with the company as a whole. I’m grateful to be a part of such a hardworking group of individuals as we all work towards the same goal of keeping our customers happy each and every day.”
In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and two year old son, Mason as well as turning a few wrenches on his Mustang Cobra.
Erika Youmans, Client Services Manager
After working in retail for a few years, Erika moved east from sunny California and joined VeraCore (then Software Marketing Associates) as a member of the Response Team. In her over 17 years with the company, she’s held various positions including Product Support Specialist and Assistant Product Manager before assuming her current role of Client Services Manager. Erika’s knowledge of VeraCore’s solutions is vast. She has overseen the development of VeraCore documentation and training materials and has facilitated the implementation of VeraCore solutions at dozens of companies.
Erika on her time with VeraCore; “While my formal role has evolved over the years, my central focus remains the same; helping our customer’s get the most out of their VeraCore system.”
On the weekends, Erika can be found hiking the trails at Sleeping Giant state park with her family and training for her next Tough Mudder challenge (Hoo-Rah!)
Georgie is VeraCore’s emotional leader. She never has a bad day at the office, is the first to greet visitors, and diligently checks in on each VeraCore team member throughout the day. When she is not busy making her rounds, she can typically be found taking a nap somewhere in her expansive office, (which encompasses the entire facility).
