Located in South Bend, Indiana, Mossberg & Company Inc. was founded in 1930 to do general commercial lithography, printing and binding. In 2005, Mossberg & Company Inc. sought to provide a seamless integration of print and distribution processes. In keeping with its tradition of cutting-edge technology and customer satisfaction, Mossberg created a Fulfillment and Marketing Services Division that is managed by the PRO-MAIL® Fulfillment Solution.
The Challenge
Mossberg & Company Inc. had been considering offering fulfillment services since 2000 for their clients. In early 2005, Mossberg & Company Inc. decided to offer fulfillment services in-house and hired Alisha McNary to oversee the development and management of the new Fulfillment and Marketing Services Division.
To be successful in fulfillment, Mossberg & Company Inc. needed not only the ability to store their clients' products, but also a system to manage the warehouse and efficiently pick, pack, and ship the items according their clients' requirements. McNary recognized that Mossberg needed a system that would free their clients of the burden of managing their printed materials and provide them with a detailed account of how those materials were being used.
After making the decision not to develop their own fulfillment system, McNary worked with a consultant to identify the best off-the-shelf package. McNary, who had already been a pro-mail® user several years earlier -- while working for another fulfillment provider on the east coast, was pleasantly surprised with the growth of the system when she began to evaluate it for the second time in February of 2005.
The Solution
McNary was pleased to discover how robust the pro-mail® Fulfillment Solution was. pro-mail® provided the customizable abilities that Mossberg sought to provide for their individual clients. With pro-mail®, Mossberg would finally be able to offer accurate, real time inventories and provide in-time delivery of their clients' products. They would also be able to enable their clients to initiate pulls of required items from their inventory themselves and utilize an automated replenishment management system. These components provided continuous availability for their clients, along with automated shipping systems that would provide order tracking and shipment notifications.
The most impressive aspect of pro-mail®, according to McNary, was not being dependent on a programmer to aid the versatility of pro-mail®. After installing pro-mail®, McNary was presented with the challenge of hiring an all new fulfillment staff and training them. Mossberg & Company Inc. is now able to provide the seamless print and distribution services that they had found themselves lacking in early 2004. Since installing the pro-mail® Fulfillment Solution in July of 2005, Mossberg has two fulfillment clients up and running with anticipated shipment volumes exceeding 3,000 orders per month. Mossberg's other clients are excited about this new service and McNary is confident they will bring on several new fulfillment clients in the coming year.
